Steal
Usage: steal lanky pouch
steal beggar
steal Peter pouch
steal Peter backpack
The Steal skill grants characters the ability to discreetly pilfer items from unsuspecting targets. However, engaging in this practice carries significant risks, particularly in lawful areas where theft is prohibited. Here's a breakdown of how the skill works and its potential consequences:
Characters can use the Steal command to attempt to lift items from a target's possession. If a specific item, such as a belt-worn container, is targeted, the thief will try to lift it directly. Otherwise, they will attempt to slip their hand into any accessible containers the target may be wearing.
Lifting items directly from a target's belt is considerably more challenging than attempting to steal from other containers. This heightened difficulty reflects the added risk of detection associated with such brazen theft. In most areas, stealing is illegal and punishable by jail time. Characters caught stealing may face legal repercussions, including arrest and imprisonment.
Characters should exercise caution when using the Steal command, especially in lawful areas where theft is punishable by law and it is best to do so under the veil of a disguise and while being hidden with the hide skill.
Players should use this skill judiciously and ensure that their actions align with the expectations of their roleplaying environment.
The steal skill makes use of the dexterity and intelligence attributes.
