Races
Re: Races
During Pre-Alpha there are two races available for play.
The one will be the Stranger race, which will allow players to recreate a deceased character from another fantasy mud if they so choose and will have varied appearances, and the other will be Ardelan - from the the Brightfell culture, who have a generic human appearance.
More details about these two races are here:

Ardelan, Brightfell Culture

As Pre-alpha progresses, more races and cultural origins will be introduced.
I've condensed some of the information under the forum thread Information to make it more easily accessible

If you have any more questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask, it helps me establish what I should expand upon and gives needed insight.

Re: Races
I'm confused about the "Stranger" race. Onward considers it one race but, if I'm coming from Armageddon my previous character there could've been any of several different races. Half-elf, elf, half-giant, human, dwarf, thryzn, halfling, and even mantis or gith from when the game first opened years ago.
Re: Races
In Onward, the "Stranger" race is a term used by the people of Brightfell to describe anyone who arrives through the Waygate.
To the locals, these arrivals are collectively called "Strangers," regardless of their appearance, background, or race. The moniker concerns their shared status as outsiders, not necessarily their physical traits or cultural origins but has come to define the naming convention of all arrivals, as a whole.
Their binding tie is that they all arrived through the Waygate, stragglers from foreign worlds and strangers to their new surroundings.
While different races from other mud's will be permitted, each character first needs to gain approval through the ticket request - as concepts that are too radical or will end up isolating the player from others - such as a halfling or mantis or thryzn which would struggle to integrate.
As for each race differing in stats, they are handled through a case by case basis and set up accordingly, if approved. Strangers will only be available during pre-alpha.
