About Nauth

Post by Nauth »

I’ve been MUDding for several years, previously focused on tabletop Dungeons & Dragons.

I played Armageddon since 2018. I was not a staffer. Among the characters I played were: Tirfan, Riya, Imani (Zharive), Niquis, Suriale, Arin.

While I want Onward’s community to remain free of discussions of mistreatment in other MUDs, I feel it’s important to share the following as it provides context for my background and how I advocate fair player treatment.

Throughout my experiences, I’ve always maintained a policy of keeping things strictly in-character (IC) and avoided participating in out-of-character (OOC) communities. This approach allowed me to enhance the roleplay experience and keep in-game discoveries fresh and free from OOC spoilers. I truly enjoyed the immersion and the story.

Unfortunately, my brief attempt at another (not Armageddon) MUD in 2019 was marred by unfair treatment from an admin. Instances included:
  • Forcing my character to emote throwing up on themselves.
Animating a guard to insult my character, telling them, “Whores aren’t allowed in the tavern,” despite my character being a reserved, bookish individual who has never as much as hugged another character.
Numerous other events created an environment where I felt too intimidated to petition for help.
These occurrences left me with a sense of helplessness and and feeling deeply uncomfortable, eventually leading me to quit as it had become a by-daily interruption of play. That experience taught me how disheartening it feels when an admin abuses their power and treats a character unfairly.
It is my goal that no player should ever experience that with Onward. No one should ever have to feel afraid to log in and worried that they would be unfairly treated because of a staffer disliking them or their character. It is a collaborative story, and every character type and each players writing style adds to the richness of the game world and helps in building an immersive experience.

I am committed to creating a supportive environment where players are fairly, regardless of whether an admin or staff member personally likes or dislikes a character or player.

If the rules are abided to, anyone is welcome to play.
