RACES
The game world is entirely original, featuring several distinct races and a strong emphasis on cultural authenticity in character portrayal. Each race is shaped by the unique customs, values, and experiences of their homeland, creating a meaningful difference in worldview and behaviour.
Certain races in the game are unlockable only through earning Roleplay Points, due to the complexity in roleplay required to portray them accurately. By gaining access to these races, players take on the responsibility of authentically representing the cultural norms and values integral to the specific race. They become integral for preserving and representing the integrity of each race’s distinct identity and creating all players perception of that racial norm.

Re: Races

The Strangers are a mysterious new race that emerged following a catastrophic storm in Brightfell, where an ancient, dormant waygate unexpectedly activated. This storm heralded the arrival of the first Stranger, staggering from the waygate with disoriented tales of places unknown and landscapes foreign to the people of Ardellis. In the days and weeks following, a slow but steady influx of Strangers has continued, each an enigma from realms unheard of, speaking of distant lands and cultures that defy local understanding.
While Brightfell's residents have cautiously welcomed these Strangers, the mystery surrounding their origins and intentions creates a wary curiosity. Known for their sometimes foreign appearances and even stranger tales, the Strangers represent various, unheard-of races with distinct customs and unique physical abilities, making it challenging to categorize them easily. Each new arrival brings with them stories and insights into worlds vastly different from those familiar to the Ardelan.
Introducing the Strangers in Pre-Alpha In Onward.
Players will have the unique opportunity to bring back characters from other MUDs that have died. The arrival of the Strangers is set to play a crucial role in the narrative of our Pre-Alpha phase.
What are Strangers?
A Stranger is essentially a character from another fantasy MUD who has died but will reappear in our world. While they will embody a newly formed body that will have their previous appearance, these bodies will be free from scars and signs of their past trials. The mind of a Stranger will be intact, retaining all memories and knowledge from their previous lives.
Players can choose the age of their new form, starting from eighteen years old and above. However, it’s important to note that Strangers will not automatically possess the special abilities or magical powers they had had in their former lives. Their physical forms have been reconstituted, leading to changes that have affected their capabilities.

Re: Races

The Ardelan
Distinguishing characteristics: Ardellis lays within the heart of the Known world. Its people are diverse in their ways with different cultures and races adapted into the Kingdoms own over time, no set physical attributes distinguishing its people (normal human appearance) and they have the ability to excel at whatever they please, with no limitations on focus or skill.
Homeland: Ardellis
The Ardelan, hailing from the politically neutral kingdom of Ardellis, embody a unique blend of diversity and adaptability.
The Ardelan people are shaped by the specific regions within Ardellis that they call home.
This internal diversity leads to a society where customs, dialects, attire, and values can differ widely from one part of the kingdom to another. This many varied traditions makes them uniquely suited to peaceful relations and diplomatic exchanges with neighboring lands.
Each community within Ardellis might develop its own festivals, dialects, and ways of life, making the Ardelan culture rich and complex. This cultural fluidity allows Ardelans to relate to many different races and backgrounds, as their upbringing emphasizes an understanding of multiple perspectives. The kingdom’s neutrality also encourages tolerance and compromise, values that are core to the Ardelan identity.
Though culturally diverse some core beliefs and values unite the people Ardellis. Their collective identity is built on tolerance toward outsiders, which has evolved through centuries of contact with travelers and diverse populations within their borders. This open-mindedness is matched by a respect for a structured social hierarchy, believed to be essential for preserving Ardellis’s stability and neutral political stance.
Guidelines:
General Traits of the Ardelan Race (can be influenced by personal experience and background):
- Curious: Ardelans have an inherent curiosity about the world around them. This curiosity often drives them to learn new skills, explore unfamiliar concepts, or engage with travelers from distant lands. The curiosity can be focused or revolve around something they are interested in or can manifest as a general trait.
- Respect for Social Structure: Ardelans tend to be patriotic and value the social systems that have allowed their kingdom to thrive. They generally see these structures as the foundation of their nation’s stability and neutrality, thus holding them in high regard.
- Pride in Acceptance: Ardelans usually take pride in their capacity to tolerate other races, often seeing this tolerance as a prized trait. Prejudices like racism and bigotry are generally viewed as archaic and narrow-minded.
